How Revenue State Guard works

You sell something through Stripe and email through Kit. When a payment fails, a Kit sequence chases the customer. When they pay, that sequence should stop. RSG is the thing that makes it stop — and, just as importantly, tells you when it could not.

What it actually does

• —Watches your Stripe account for payments, failures, recoveries, refunds and cancellations on the products you selected.
• —Works out, for each customer and each product, whether they are paid up, on trial, cancelling, or genuinely still owe you money.
• —Adds one tag to the sequence's “Exclude subscribers” setting in Kit, and adds or removes that tag on individual subscribers.
• —Reads Kit back afterwards. A change is only reported as done when Kit confirms it.
• —Checks on a schedule that your sequence settings are still what RSG left them as — so a problem is caught before a wrong email goes out, not after.

What it does not do

• —It does not send email. Your sequences stay yours; RSG only decides who is in them.
• —It does not take payments, issue refunds, or retry a failed charge. It never asks Stripe for permission to move money.
• —It does not create Kit subscribers, change anyone's subscription status or consent, or touch your purchase history.
• —It cannot recall an email that has already been sent. It stops the next one.
• —It does not repair sequences it does not know about. Only the one you designate is protected.

When RSG stops and asks you

RSG is built to stop rather than guess. Everything below appears under Needs attention, and each one says what RSG has stopped doing because of it.

• —Two Stripe customers or two Kit subscribers share one email address — RSG will not choose between people.
• —The email on a customer changed after RSG matched them. It will not move someone's state onto a different subscriber.
• —Your sequence's exclusion settings are not what RSG recorded. It will not overwrite a change you may have made on purpose.
• —Kit gave two different answers about a sequence moments apart. An unstable read is not a confirmation.
• —A change was sent to Kit but the outcome was never confirmed. RSG stops rather than sending it again.
• —A subscription is paused, invoiced manually, disputed, or covers more than one of your products. Those are outside what RSG will decide automatically.

Two limits worth knowing before you rely on it

Kit does not let two things edit a sequence safely at the same moment. If you change a protected sequence's exclusion settings in the same second RSG writes to it, one of the two edits can be lost. RSG narrows that window as far as it can, writes that setting at most twice in a sequence's lifetime — at setup, and at most once more to restore its own entry if that entry alone goes missing — never overwrites something it did not add, and tells you whenever what it sees is not what it wrote. It cannot make the window disappear, and it will not claim otherwise.

RSG will not draw a conclusion from history it has not finished reading. Until it has read all of your Stripe history, it holds off rather than deciding that someone has no purchase. That is deliberate: the failure it refuses to risk is removing a real customer's access to your marketing.

What it costs

$29 per month for one Kit and Stripe pair, covering up to ten products. The 14-day free trial starts when you turn on ongoing protection — not when you connect an account — so setup does not eat it. If RSG itself cannot complete your first repair, the trial is extended; a technical failure on our side should not consume your evaluation.

If your subscription lapses, RSG stops making changes and tells you. It does not remove anything it already put in place: your tags and your sequence settings stay exactly as they are.
